Cherry Creek State Park offers a great getaway from the daily grind, with recreation opportunities anchored around a 880 surface-acre lake. Visitors can view birds in their natural habitat. Located west of Denver and two miles northwest of Central City, Colorado, in a grove of aspen and lodgepole pine. The campground is split into two loops. There are 45 sites available, 43 are suitable for RV camping and 4 are more suitable for tents. Facilities provided include restrooms, and water. Each site contains a tent pad, fire grate, and picnic table. Some first come, first serve sites may be available. Sites may be available on a first come first served basis outside the reservation season. There are no electric/water/sewer site hook-ups at this campground. Activities include "Peak to Peak" highway and 4-wheeling nearby. Campground is popular with OHV's users. Firewood sold at the campground. Buffalo Campground offers that special blend of being far enough from town that there is no corner store while being close enough that the drive to and from home is a part of the total pleasant getaway. Located southwest of Denver, CO at an elevation of 7,400 feet, Buffalo Campground offers a wonderful opportunity for individuals or families to enjoy the great outdoors. Nearby is Buffalo Creek and the Colorado Trail, which provides ample hiking and biking opportunities, is only 1/4 mile away. Summer temperatures range from 75-80 degrees during the day to a pleasant 55-65 degrees at night. Wildlife is abundant in the surrounding areas. There is drinking water available as well as vault toilets.
