This KOA is near the golden ridges of the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, where you can hike dunes up to 700 feet tall, and is at the base of Colorado's fourth tallest mountain, 14,345-foot Blanca Peak. The campground is just minutes from the scenic Cumbres Toltec steam train, Rio Grande Scenic Railroad and the championship Cattails Golf Course. You'll also find museums, hot-spring pools, family fun at the alligator farm, spectacular trails and wildlife. Or come back to the campground and shop at the Christmas Store. The Indian Creek Trail #1300 trailhead is located on the north side of campground. This trailhead is a multi user trail system and accesses 23 miles of motorized trails available for ATV, motorcycle, bicycle, foot and horse use.

Alamosa Campground is on the Alamosa River 4.5 miles above Terrace Reservoir Dam. There are 5 campsites, one is pull through, with tables, fireplaces, vault type toilet, and ample parking. There is no water available, bring your own. There is public fishing at Terrace Reservoir and trail access to Alamosa-Rock Creek and Big Lake Trails. Maneuvering space for large trailers and recreation vehicles is limited. Naturally acidic water severely limits fishing in the Alamosa river between Stunner Campground and Terrace Reservoir. No water, no trash service - PACK IN PACK OUT.

Blue lake is approximately ½ mile from campground and the tributaries of Cuchara river run through campground. For trail use, from the campground, take FSR 436 1.5 miles to the non-motorized North Fork Trail #1309. FSR 436 continues to old mine and saddle approximately 500 vertical feet below summit of Trinchera Peak. Access to the Indian Trial #1300 Trailhead at Bear Lake campground one mile further up FSR 422. This trailhead is a multi user trail system and accesses 23 miles of motorized trails available for ATV, motorcycle, bicycle, foot and horse use. 15 campsites, with maximum spur length of 40 feet. Parking spurs, tables, fire rings, grills, trash receptacles are provided at this campground. Drinking water is provided by a well with a hand pump. There is 1 double vault accessible toilet and 1 single vault toilet.
