The Wolf Gap Recreation Area lies in a gap of Great North Mountain, exactly on the border between Virginia and West Virginia. Once the site of Civilian Conservation Corps Camp, Wolf Gap NF-15, this campground offers 9 family-sized campsites complete with tent pad, picnic table and fire ring.and a separate picnic area. The campsites are first come first served. This is an unattended campground. Very popular hikes lead north and south from the campground to Tibbet Knob and Big Schloss, both of which offer panoramic views of nearby valleys. This is a Pack-it-in, Pack-it-out area, so you are responsible for bagging and carrying out your own trash.

Trout Pond, named for the only natural lake in West Virginia, is a unique area of lakes and streams, and mountains and sinkholes, all surrounded by the beautiful hills of West Virginia. The recreation area offers camping, picnicking, swimming, boating, hiking, fishing and more. Trout Pond has 50 campsites each complete with a fire ring and picnic table. Hot-water showers and restrooms are an easy walk from each site. Fourteen sites have electrical hook-ups, and a dump station is in the area. The day-use area includes a white-sand swim beach, boat launch, bathhouse, playground, and 30 picnic sites. There are 2 group picnic areas available. Each accommodates as many as 100 people. Site A has a shelter, Site B is uncovered. Group picnic area reservations must be made in advance through the reservation system.

The Little Fort Recreation Area is in Fort Valley, the long narrow valley contained within the Massanutten Mountain range in Virginia. Little Fort is a minimally developed recreation with 9 first come first served campsites and vault toilets. No water is available, please bring your own. This is the closest campground to our OHV motorized trail system. This is an unattended campground. There is a hiking trail from the campground to Woodstock Observation Tower that offers a marvelous view of the Shenandoah Valley (North Fork) with the ridges of Great North Mountain to the west and Shenandoah National Park along the Blue Ridge to the east.

Group camping and picnic sites are also available. There is a hiking trail that leads east to views from the ridge of Great North Mountain and west into a hemlock gorge. This is a Pack-It-In, Pack-It-Out facility. Visitors are responsible for carrying out their own trash. Campground Camping 10 campsites include tent pads, fire rings and lantern poles. Water is hand pumped spigots and there are vault toilets. Group Camping The group camp is available on a first-come, first-served basis and can accommodate up to 50 people.

The Camp Roosevelt Recreation Area is at the mid-point of a long, narrow valley contained within Massanutten Mountain in VA. It offers 10 family-sized campsites, flush toilets, RV dump station and a picnic ground with pavilion. The campsites are first come first served. The picnic ground lies on the old foundations and walkways of the first Civilian Conservation Corps Camp that operated in the 1930s. Nearby trails rise to the east ridge of Massanutten Mountain (Kennedy Peak) with views to the east of the Shenandoah National Park along the Blue Ridge. Other trails offer shaded walks along streams in Fort Valley and Duncan Hollow. This is an unattended campground.

The Elizabeth Furnace Group Campground is available to organized groups for outdoor camping by tent only on a reservation and fee basis. No trailers are allowed in the group camp area. Families and small groups (less than 10 people) are encouraged to utilize the family campground at Elizabeth Furnace or one of our other nearby recreation areas. Currently the group camp has no running water. Plan on bringing all drinking water with you. There are two individual campsites in the group area. Site A: 50 people Site B: 25 people You can reserve one site or both sites depending on the size of your group and the availability of the sites. Groups larger than 75 people will not be accepted. Centralized facilities include parking, water. Water is available from a hand-pumped well located at the Elizabeth Furnace Family Campground. Toilets are the vault type. Each group site is equipped with tent pads (12' x 16'), fire grate, fire ring and picnic tables. There is no trash service. Visitors are responsible for bagging their trash and packing it out with them when they leave. Groups are urged to bring no more vehicles than needed
