This is an easy to moderate hike down to a beautiful alpine lake. There are excellent views of the lake from the road before you get to the trailhead. There is primitive camping at the lake. The lake has easy shore access for fishing. While it is 1 mile to the lake, the trail circles the lake for a total hike of about 3 miles. Part way around the lake is a nice little waterfall.
From Cascade: Take Cabarton Rd 6.3 miles (to a big red barn) where Cabarton Rd intersects with Snowbank Rd (FS #446). Turn right. It is about 10 miles up a wide well maintained (although fairly steep) gravel Rd as there is a Federal Radar Site 2 miles past the trailhead. You will see a small pond on the right (Potters Pond - there were lots of mosquitoes at the pond, but not on the trail.) The trailhead parking (Trail #119) is on the left.
