The Harborwalk Trail follows paved trails and sidewalks from Portland's East End Beach around the harbor and across the Casco Bay Bridge to the South Portland Greenbelt Walkway and Bug Light Park. Cyclists are required to cross the bridge using the road. At the South Portland Greenbelt Walkway turn left to continue the Harborwalk to Bug Light Park. Public toilets can be found at East End Beach (in summer months), Maine State Pier/Casco Bay Ferry Lines, and Bug Light Park (in summer months).
From East End Beach the trail proceeds along the Eastern Promenade Trail to Portland 's Old Port where it joins with the sidewalk at Commercial Street . Through a busy waterfront area the trail connects to Harborview Park and onto the Casco Bay Bridge . Across the bridge a ramp leads to Thomas Knight Park, South Portland 's waterfront market area, and the South Portland Greenbelt Walkway. The paved greenbelt leads to Bug Light Park . Options for return include calling a water taxi, which should be booked in advance.
