Trail Map |
A short hike up to a rocky outcropping. excellent westward views down the valley. this hike is great for catching the sunset
There are two main paths one is the road that goes to the cell tower, this is wide and the grade is steady. the trail is a bit steeper but goes through some nice woods with lots of ferns and some neat rock formations.
From Blacksburg take US 460 West for 7 miles. Take a right on Mountain Lake Road and follow the signs to the Mountain Lake Hotel Resort. Park at the hotel parking lot at the lake or on the corner of Doe creek and Mtn Lake road.
The easiest access is to hike up the gated gravel road on the right just before Doe creek road. After about 100 yards you can continue up the road or split off onto a trail that also goes to the top.
