Trail Map |
From the Seneca Creek trailhead follow the Seneca Creek Trail for 4 miles along Seneca Creek to Seneca Falls. The trail will cross Seneca Creek multiple times and the crossing can be adventurous during high water. At the bottom of the falls, there is a nice swimming hole that you can swim in if you are brave enough to deal with the cold water.
Backpacking Option:
There are multiple great campsites close to the falls and all along the Seneca Creek Trail. A loop can be formed by taking the Seneca Creek Trail to the Tom Lick Trail. Then take the Allegheny Mountain Trail to the Horton Trail. Follow the Horton Trail down into the valley to the Seneca Creek trail and the falls. Close the loop by following the Seneca Creek Trail back to the parking area. This is a 12 mile loop.
From Riverton, WV, take US Route 33 south 2 miles to Briery Gap Road (Country Road 33/4). Turn right onto Briery Gap Road. Go 2 miles to Forest Road 112, turn left and continue for 10 miles. The trailhead will be marked.
Notes:
- Public Road 112 is a windy dirt road with a speed limit of 20 mph.
- If you continue pass the trailhead for 2 to 3 miles you will reach the Spruce Knob Lake Campground.
