This backpacking hike offers beautiful mountain and cliff views from the ridge line. Additionally you will walk through the Hensley settlement and visit a small cave.
This backpacking hike requires a car shuttle. First leave a car at the trailhead on VA 724 on US 58 around Ewing, VA. Then drive the second car back to Cumberland Gap National Park to the Pinnacle Overlook.
Take the Overlook trail to the Ridge trail. Then stay on the ridge trail and enjoy the views until you reach your campsite. Make sure to take a small detour to the Hensley settlement. On the second day stay on the ridge trail and stop at the Sand Cave. Then, before taking the Ewing trail to the car, keep going on the ridge to the White Rocks overlook. This overlook offers majestic views from very high cliffs down the valley.
Drive to Cumberland Gap National Park's main entrance and the ranger station for permits.
