This scenic 5.7-mile loop is located in the southeastern part of the Long Cane Ranger District. Visitors may enjoy either mountain biking or hiking opportunities here.
The reflective, white-blazed trail has five access points enabling cyclists or hikers to determine the length and duration of their visit. Many visitors begin their trip at Lick Fork Lake Recreation Area which offers camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing, and boating. For those not wishing to enter the recreation area, an alternate route has been established. Access is on FS Road 640, just south of the Lick Fork Lake entrance. Horn Creek Trail travels along hardwood bottoms, across streams, and along pine ridges offering views of a wide variety of wildlife habitat and distinctive piedmont vegetation.
From Edgefield, take SC Route 23 south for 8.2 miles. Bear left onto SC Route 230, drive 0.5 mile to Route S 19-263. Drive 1.9 miles to Lick Fork entrance. Trailhead is at boat ramp (parking fee $3).
Or, you may continue past the Lick Fork Lake entrance. Turn right onto FS 640. The parking lot is on the right. (This parking lot has no fee.)
