Trail Map |
It's worth the climb! The Rim Vista Trail boasts some of the best views in the Abiquiu area. From the top of the mesa you can look down into the Chama River Canyon Wilderness area. There is a moderately steep climb of about 300' from the base of the mesa to the top. Ponderosa Pine and Pinyon-Pine types are dominant at the top of the mesa. Rim Vista trail meets up with the Salazar Trail at the top and is marked with rock cairns.
North on Highway 84 - from Espanola 46 miles; South on Highway 84 - from Taos 94 miles; from Chama 44 miles. Turn west on Forest Road 151 and continue on for about 1 mile. There will be a marker directing you to the trail. You can drive in a short distance to park your vehicle.
