Follow this trail from the Pine Valley Cemetery to the open flats of Grass Valley. The trail take you through dense pinyon pine, juniper, and mahogany trees up onto a ridge that provides great views of the Pine Valley area to the south and Grass Valley to the north.
The trail starts as a two-track road and narrows as it ascends into the forest. The trail is a moderate hike with loose rocks. The distance to Grass Valley is 1.5 miles. Once you reach Grass Valley you can either turn around or continue up the Water Canyon Trial in to the Pine Valley Wilderness.
From St. George take Highway 18 north for about 23 miles, turn right at the Pine Valley junction ( E. Pine Valley Road ), go about 7.5 miles and turn left at the Pine Valley Cemetery . The trail is immediately on the left.
