There are multiple ways to hike the Zion Narrows. For the less experienced start from the bottom and hike up into the canyon. However, for the greatest experience start from the top and backpack into Zion Canyon until you reach the end. This is a very tough hike with no designed trail. Most of the time you will be walking in the river or crossing it. At times you may have to swim short distances in very cold water to reach the other end. I strongly recommend picking one of the campsites in the middle. I also recommend renting a waterproof backpack, poles and water hiking shoes at a local outfitter. All in all it was one of the best hikes I have done. The canyon and adventure was just amazing.
Drive to the ranger station in Zion National Park and get the required permits and information for this hike. Local shuttles will bring you from the visitor center to the trailhead for a small fee.
