Romero Canyon consist of two loops, if you hike the lower loop fire road it is about 4.5 miles to the junction of the upper loop. At this point you can head down canyon to complete the hike for a shorter day or you can keep going to the top then back down for an 11 mile hike. The fire road portion of this trail is great for Mountain bikes, and many use it. The canyon bottom is well shaded with a creek running through it year around except for the driest years.
From hwy 101 exit Padaro Ln and head West, turn left on Torro Canyon road. This road makes a turn to the left and becomes E. Valley road, then turn right on Ladera Lane. This road turns into Bella Vista Dr., continue to the trail head.
