Trail Map |
The Rowlands Creek Falls loop takes you along Rowlands Creek with its many waterfalls. Then along the side of a ridge line and back down along another stream. There are plenty of camping options along the trails.
From the trailhead at Route 643, follow the orange blazes of Rowlands Creek Trail. The trail will follow the creek and cross it multiple times. Crossing could be hazardous if creek level is high. Look and listen for waterfalls along the entire trail.
After about 3 miles you will reach Hurricane Gap. Pass the gate and turn right onto an old forest road. Take another right a few yards down the forest road onto Old FR84 trail. This trail eventually turns into an old forest road. Follow this trail along the side of the ridgeline. In about 5 miles you will reach a nice meadow that is perfect for a campsite. Water is nearby if you follow FR84 to Dry Fork Creek.
From the trail, take a right onto Jerry's Run Trail and follow the trail back down for about 4 miles back to Route 634. This trail will cross a creek multiple times. Once you reach the gate and Route 634, take a right to reach your car.
