An oasis on the plains, Bonny Lake State Park offers a welcomed change from the rolling prairie and grasslands that surround the park. Bonny Lake State Park has colorful vistas in the fall and a variety of year-round recreational opportunities. From Denver: Take I-70 east to Burlington, then 23 miles north on U.S. 385. Turn east on County Road 2 (3 1/2 miles to entrance) or 3 (1 1/2 miles to entrance). OR Take I-70 east to Byers, then east on U.S. 36 (approximately 108 miles) to Idalia. Continue east two miles on U.S. 36, then turn south on U.S. 385 for 6 or 7 miles to County Road 2 or 3. The gate entrance on County Road 2 is 3 1/2 miles from highway and County Road 3 is 1 1/2 miles from highway. New for 2010, there will be heavy road construction from 1 mile north of the park on Hwy 385 north for 18 miles. If coming from Denver, better to go to Burlington and north on Hwy 385 this summer to avoid delays.
