Edit |
This hike takes you from the world famous Mummelsee to the highest point in the Black Forest at the Hornisgrinde.
Start you hike from behind the bar/restaurant and follow the paved road and trail to the Hornisgrinde. You will walk through the typical Black Forest pine trees until you reach the Hornisgrinde with its open balds. The Hornisgrinde offers panoramic views of the Black Forest.
Continue your hike past the observation tower towards the wind mills and large TV antenna. Continue on the "red triangle" blazed trail until you reach the "Wadernverein". This is one of many guest houses for hikers in the Black Forest.
To close the loop, follow the gravel road and signs back to Mummelsee. You will hike on gravel and dirt roads for the most part.
