Edit |
Take the "Flégère Lift" from Les Praz de Chamonix to the first stop. From there start following the gravel road up to "L'Index". The gravel road will be a steep climb with switchbacks. It will pass underneath the "L'Index Lift" multiple times. As you climb, the view of the Chamonix Valley, Aiguille Du Midi and Mont-Blanc open up.
Once you arrive at "L'Index" follow the signs toward "Lac Blanc". Be aware, that even in early July the trail was partially snow covered! The trail is now much easier as it goes along the side of the ridge. To your left you have views of the Aiguilles Rouge and to your right you have views of the Chamonix Valley and the Mont-Blanc range.
Lac Blanc is a beautiful glacial lake that has an ice cover for most of the year. Explore this beautiful lake, enjoy the sights of chamois (wild goats) and have a drink/lunch at the chalet.
To continue the loop, follow the trail past the chalet/bathrooms towards Lacs Des Cheserys. The trail descends sharply towards these gorgeous mountain lakes. Keep going on the trail until you reach an intersection with signs to "La Flegere".
Follow the trail to "La Flegere" as it will pass through through high elevation grasslands, wildflowers and a large waterfall. The loop ends back at the "La Flegere" lift.
