Features

The Grizzly Lake road is rough, rocky and considered a difficult route by most 4-wheel enthusiasts. Fishing is considered excellent by anglers with abundant brook trout in the lake and in nearby beaver ponds.

Considerations

A small portion of road passes through private property. Please do not disturb the owners and stay on the road. Access through this property is at the discretion of the property owners. Do not attempt this road if you are not experienced at operating a 4-wheel drive vehicle.

From Nathrop travel west on County Road 162 for about 16 miles to the Grizzly Gulch parking area. The gravel parking lot is located on the left side of the road. Just past the parking area, is the junction with County Road 295. This road bears to the left off of the main road. A small Forest Service sign indicates that the road travel to the old townsite of Hancock. Take this road and travel .20 miles to Forest Road 296. The road travels through private property and continues for 2.6 miles to Grizzly Lake.
