From the parking lot ascend the yellow blazed Lipes Branch Trail to the Potts Mountain ridge line. Shortly beyond the trailhead there will be a Y intersection. Make sure to stay to the right on the yellow balzed trail. When you reach the ridgeline, take a left onto the Potts Mountain Trail (Old Jeep Trail). Within half a mile there will be a large rock outcrop with beautiful views to the West. View to the East can be had by bushwhacking through the woods if you spot a rock outcrop.
The Lipes Branch Trail is in very bad condition. It is very overgrown with lots of downed trees. The yellow blazes are very faint. This trail is passable in the Winter and early Spring when the vegetation has not started growing again.
