Popular hike to a beautiful view and impressive rock formation

From the trail head parking lot cross VA 311 and follow the white blazed Appalachian Trail for 3.5 miles to the summit. At the top you will find a 270 degree view over the surrounding mountains and an impressive rock overhang. On a good day you can see Tinker Cliffs and the Peaks Of Otter. If you continue 0.1 miles on the AT you will find another scenic view of Roanoke.

Then take VA 311 towards Catawba.
The trailhead parking lot in a few miles to the left at the top of the hill.
