Easy to Moderate Trail.
It is short (3/4 mile, one way), and mostly boarded, but has lots of steps on the path making it a little "steeper". Downhill on way out, return trip is up the stairs. There are lots of resting spots, take your time and enjoy.
Also, The first falls is handicap accessible...a rare treat.
There are 3 waterfalls total. They get better as you go in, so I suggest the full route. 2nd and 3rd (Middle and Lower) falls both provide GREAT photo opportunities WITHOUT leaving the trail. The first (Upper) is a "save your film"...on or off the trail, there's no good angle
Open all year. Personally, I think my favorite season is winter, with the icicles around the falls. Late summer with the green is nice too.
Stolen shamelessly from the National forest's website, with just 1 or 2 edits:
From the North and East via Interstate 79, use Exit 57 onto US Route 19 South to State Route 55. Take WV 55 through Richwood to the Falls of Hills Creek. Past the ranger station, but before the Cranberry Glades Nature Center. On the right, there are signs. Approximately 65 miles from Exit 57.
From South and East via Interstate 64 use Exit 169 onto US 219 North to State Route 39/55. West on WV 39/55 5-6 miles past the Cranberry Glades nature center to Falls of Hills Creek. On your left, there are signs. Approximately 42 miles from Exit 169 in Lewisburg.
