The Chittenden Brook Trail starts on an old woods road, and climbs moderately. Look for an intersection with the Beaver Pond Trail at 1.7 miles. Follow this trail for 0.1 miles to the pond, which is a good spot to look for wildlife. Retracing your steps back to the Chittenden Brook Trail, you will continue toward the Long Trail. You will pass a 0.4 miles spur that leads to Chittenden Brook Campground. The trail climbs through mixed hardwood and spruce/fir forest, becoming steeper as it ascends to its intersection with the Long Trail at 4.1 miles. The Beaver Pond Trail can also be accessed by starting at site #7 in Chittenden Brook Campground and following signs to the Chittenden Brook Trail. Other trails in the Chittenden Brook Area can be wet, and are not suitable for hiking.
