The Midland to Mackinac Pathway was originally set up by the Boy Scouts of America to simulate the original Mackinac Pathway, which was a migratory route used by the Chippewa Indians. The pathway weaves through a variety of forest types and land forms. It offers a vast number of scenic and recreational opportunities.
